It seems lately that as soon as Halloween is over, you go right to Christmas. I feel that Thanksgiving is overlooked most of the time. Is it because Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful? Do people really not want to have to look at their lives and take stock in the things they have......which also reminds them of the all the things they don't have? Has society gone crazy with the commercialization of the holidays that they forgot what they really mean?
Thanksgiving is more than stuffing yourself with turkey, with all the fixings, and pie....Oh the pies!!
Between the mad dash to make sure you have a Halloween costume that your child just has to have and the Christmas shopping for just the right toy, that you child just has to have, is Thanksgiving. The red headed step child of the Holiday season.
I think this year we should all just take a moment to breathe......some may need more than just a moment, so go a head and get out your oxygen and relax for a bit. Every person on this planet has something, maybe a tiny something, but we all have something we are thankful for. Lets celebrate those things, whether big or small.
Things I am thankful for
1. God. I would be nothing without his unfailing strength and love.
2. My family. they may drive me crazy sometimes, but they're mine and I love them.
3. My friends....where to even begin? My friends who are supportive, loving, kind and stronger than even they are aware of sometimes.
4. My ability to turn yarn and two sticks and turn it into something amazing.
(It's also a post apocalyptic skill.....so bring on the zombies)
What are some of the things you are thankful for?
